Tony Martin – Grace Notes: Collages and Drawings

Grace Notes features collages and drawings made from discarded and prepared papers. The exhibition title refers to both musical and theological terms. For example, the grace notes of a musical score where inessential marks provide an opportunity for improvisation and play. Theologically, St Peter refers to a ‘multi coloured grace’ which redeems and joyfully beautifies the humble and imperfect. A selection of drawings is also included which later became compositional features to some of the collages.
