Poetry for Wellbeing

Ticket price: Pay what you can

About this event

Poetry is a powerful force for wellbeing.

In this session, we will use a selection of poems as inspiration for your own writing, focusing on creating a safe and supportive environment that builds everyone’s confidence to use poetry to express themselves.

Whether you’ve never written a poem in your life or you’ve been quietly filling notebooks for years, you’re welcome.

Tutor: Nia Broomhall

Nia Broomhall is an award-winning poet, originally from Somerset but now based in Surrey. She holds an MA with distinction in Creative Writing from Lancaster University and is Poet in Residence at Painshill Park in Surrey. Her pamphlet Backalong won the Mslexia Poetry Pamphlet Prize and was published by Bloodaxe Books in 2024. Her poems have been widely published. She runs poetry classes and events in her local area, including inclusive Open Mic evenings.

Nia comes from a long line of West Country women who talk to strangers and embarrass their children.

Please note: This workshop will take place in the first floor studio which is accessed by stairs.
