The band is open to all players of wind , brass and percussion, young and older, and will play carnival music from all around he world, especially New Orleans, Brazil and the Caribbean and Somerset inspired tunes. Starting with this day workshop we will then meet on Thursday evenings. The band will debut at Bridgwater Carnival day and then go on to play carnivals next year, joining the big carnival parades next year. You can bring you own ideas too.

The project is run by Sound of the Streets, a charity that brings towns, parks and public spaces alive with the vibrant sounds of street music and inspires and supports children and young people to make music. Their bands Tongues of Fire and The Sound of the Streets band have been playing Bridgwater evets for the last four years.

The workshop will be led by street band veteran Tim Hill, with sousaphone players Tom Francombe and young drummer Jo Mekle.
